For kids the number one thing I am afraid of is them throwing the pole and reel in the waters. This combo is affordable enough that you don’t need to jump into the water with your phone in your pocket to rescue their gears. One day it will happen and I am glad Abu Garcia sells this combo gear for kiddos.

Arrived safely. Need to put some fishing line on, and head to the water.

Love it. Easy to cast

Paid $60 at Academy for starters after rigging up through out 4 full casts before it gave me problems. Pressed button to cast out released button release of the line did not function freely I would have to hit the button multiple time on a row until it would release the line. Once released I held the line with one hand to release at the max extension of each cast. A complete failure. I checked the reel for any obvious issues. Did not open reel to inspect bearings and etc.
