I own 14 older Abu Garcia Ambassadeur and thought I'd give the newer stuff a try. Grabbed this for laker trout, and wiper fishing. Got it home, released the bail, turned bait runner on, gave it a couple spins and was really thinking this would be great. Then...it jammed. Got curious so I took it apart. The mount hole for the digital line counter broke it looks like from assemble at the factory and jammed the main gear. Wonder how many are like this floating around. This is brand new, hasn't seen extreme colds, harsh use or been dropped.

It has a high gear ratio for fast retrieves, smooth drag, and an accurate line counter. I use them for trolling, and I can return the lure to the most productive fish-catching setting with the line counter. I have six of these reels. Be sure to check the gear ratio on the box because they come in two different ratios,

I use it for trolling Chinook. Strong, smooth drag. Holds 120 yds. 65lb. braid. Flipping switch gets in the way of a full palm grip. Have to hold below reel only. With line diameter set at 8, counter off 2 ft. at 70 ft. out. Plenty good for government work. I feel it was well worth the price.
