My Father-in-law has been using these for years and hasn't had any issues with them. I just got mine about a month ago and took it out for a three day fishing trip trolling Lake Shasta, CA. It worked great with no issues and I caught a bunch of nice fish with it!

I have been using these reels on all of my striper guide trips throughout the year and considering that we run around 500 striped bass trips a year going into battle with fish over 50lbs you can obviously see that these are the best reels ever made at this price point. Reel works just fine. It is the fish that won't cooperate... Can put my little spoon right on top of them. They just won't take the bait. Such is the life of a fisherperson.....

This is my second purchase of Ambassador line counters, last season I put two on board loaded with 15 lb braid and on 6 ft Berkeley trolling rods. The whole set up worked perfectly as the counter allowed us to repeat the proper depths the fish were holding at on every pass.
